Our Greatest Fear Realized

Someone started a fire on the River Road below our house yesterday at about 3:30 p.m.. We had to evacuate over the dirt road to the west.
The house is still here this morning. My prayers were answered.
The animals are OK.
Will write more tomorrow.

  6. Oh, my gosh - I was afraid to read after seeing the title of your post. I thought maybe a mountain lion attack or something! I'm so glad to hear that your prayers were answered. I am so sorry this happened to you all!

  7. OMG! Horror of horrors. I'm so relieved to hear that you, the house, and the animals are all safe. When I read about the other nearby fire last week, it made me very nervous. I know how fast those wildland fires can spread. I wondered whether you have any way to evacuate the animals. You must have been terrified. I'M terrified; even though it's all over and I'm 2200 miles away. I want to be there for you and help load goats and chickens into my RV for a fast escape.
Please do let us all know, as soon as you feel up to it, just how close the fire came and what kind of damage you sustained nearby. You must still be shaking. I love you girl. ~Dawn

  16. Connie, I thought of you as soon as I heard about the fire. I'm glad to hear that you two, your animals and your house are OK. I've been wondering about the ignition source. It's too weird to have two fires in the Middle Bar area such a short time apart. Take care,
    Katherine

  17. That is a very frightening thing. Lord help us here. It would not take much to completely destroy things here. It has done a lot of damage to some homes and surroundings. So far, have not reached around me yet.

  18. What?!?! I am SO glad you are OK! What is going on in the world? They just caught a rapist in the creek (MY CREEK!) behind my house--2 houses away--today!
