It was, as I have said, a fine autumnal day; the sky was clear and serene, and nature wore that rich and golden livery which we always associate with the idea of abundance. The forests had put on their sober brown and yellow, while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet.... As Ichabod jogged slowly on his way, his eye... ranged with delight over the treasures of jolly autumn. ~Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

Oh my, the lines of the barn roof are so graceful and wonderful. I really enjoyed seeing your photos. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I have just discovered Mary Oliver and am so enjoying her work.

BEAUTIFUL photo!!!! Of course you know what it immediately brought to mind . . . . "with it's shingles broken and black".
I finally got Tanj to sit down and read about your Montana adventures and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Keeping in mind that he is an extremely well-read man and knows good writing when he sees it, he said to me, "Gee, she is really an excellent writer! If she were published, I would look forward to reading her books." So maybe it's time you gave that some serious thought!! ~Dawn
