It was, as I have said, a fine autumnal day; the sky was clear and serene, and nature wore that rich and golden livery which we always associate with the idea of abundance. The forests had put on their sober brown and yellow, while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet.... As Ichabod jogged slowly on his way, his eye... ranged with delight over the treasures of jolly autumn. ~Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

Sunrise and Smoke

This was the sunrise yesterday. It makes for an interesting photo but not when you live in it. I'm leaving for the weekend. I'm going to the Bay Area to see my mother. Hopefully the smoke will not be so thick there. I'll be back on Monday.

Oh what a sight that is. Enjoy your weekend with your Mother.

I read a firefighter's blog that is out there fighting those fires. He said they are working 48 hour shifts. I would think the neighboring states would send in some reinforcements to help get those fires put out.

Seems to have dissipated somewhat. How nice. Hope it's better for you when you get back.
