And our home was at the end of the road so if it came up the road we would have had no way out. I feel much more secure in this new place, although with forest and trees all around us, we are all in potential danger if a fire ever started here. What's that phrase? "Bend over and kiss your ass goodbye"! That's what most people would have to do without defensible space. Very important AND water storage. We had tanks buried "just in case". What a scary thing. I guess you'll probably never be the same after this. But at least it won't burn in that same location again.
