It was, as I have said, a fine autumnal day; the sky was clear and serene, and nature wore that rich and golden livery which we always associate with the idea of abundance. The forests had put on their sober brown and yellow, while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet.... As Ichabod jogged slowly on his way, his eye... ranged with delight over the treasures of jolly autumn. ~Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

We love S.C. The Sutter Creek Inn is our favorite place to stay. We stay in a different room every visit. Breakfast is always a culinary delight. I was just over your way Monday. We bought a chair from the window of On A Mission. Loving my Ikea Poang chair! Did you happen to see it in the 4th of July window display?

LOVE Sutter Creek - but then I love all of "my" little towns that I drive/drove through on my way home to Placerville to visit my sisters for all of these many years I have been in Sonora.
Lovely photos.

This looks like a lovely place to visit, and especially the place with all the verandas would be fun to sit up there and people watch.
