Freak Accident

Will you look at this? Some days just have a mind of their own. This is the sliding door window after being hit by a rock. Thank goodness these are double panes windows because the window on the inside is still intact.

The Prospector was weed eating down the hill, a long way from this window, but somehow a small rock was thrown clear up to the house and it hit the window with the force of a torpedo. I was in the computer room and I heard the rock hit. It was like gun shot. As I ran into the living room to see what the heck was going on, Carl ran past me, in the other direction.

This is where I found him.
So today, not only do I have a stupid DENTIST APPOINTMENT, but we have to have a window replaced. Some days just seem to start on the wrong side of the bed, don't they?
I think I will join Carl....

  1. I had a similar experience a month ago while riding the John Deer mower. It shot a rock out right into the window. Doesn't it just make you mad? Of all the places for that silly rock to go....just thankful there were no living creatures in its path. Carl had the right idea.

  2. First thing this morning at work, my co-worker found out that her email address had been hacked! Total bummer. Hacker sent messages to her contacts list. So when we saw this photo of Carl, it was just about perfect. Yes, some Mondays just make you want to head for cover. Corgis Rule!
Hope your dentist visit isn't too grueling, and the rest of the day gets better.

  3. Wow, thank goodness no one was hurt!! I can imagine how your heart was racing after you heard this - I freak out every time a poor bird flies into one of our windows - I bet the noise you heard was unreal! And poor Carl! (Don't tell him, but I laughed -just a little bit- at the sight of his little bum and upturned back feet underneath the bed). :-)

  4. Ah geez... Doesn't it tick you off when that happens? And double paned windows are so darned expensive and time consuming to replace! I think Carl had the right idea, alright, but do you really want to sleep under the bed? ;)
I have metal awnings on most of my windows, but do you think I ever thought to pull the living room ones down when the mower man came? Having to pay for picture window replacement TWICE, made me learn a very hard - and expensive - lesson! Thankfully (???) double paned windows are way too expensive, so I have nothing but single paned.... and lovely thick insulated curtains!

  5. Sorry your Monday started out so bad. I am sure glad nobody got hurt. Hope your dentist appointment went well. Mowing lawns and weed whacking sure can be dangerous. Hope Carl is ok. The picture of him under the bed is so cute. Madeline

But that photo of Carl is adorable!

  8. I'm glad you thought to take a photo of the window! It makes for a nice spider-webby effect, doesn't it? But the photo of the poor wee dog playing ostrich is such a crack up!

Hope the dentist appointment went well and you are once again enjoying looking out the window again soon!
