A Cat vs. Dog Story..., Maggie must be feeling better.

Hi Annibel. What's my pretty cat doing? Looking for a bird or a lizard? Just a little FYI for you...., we have 42 acres here. Do you have to leave half eaten lizards on the back porch steps?" Annibel rubs on Farmladys jeans and purrs. "Are you listening cat?..., Oh Annie, what am I going to do with you? She looks at Farmlady and blinks her answer, then she turns her head toward the front yard as they hear the jingle of a dog collar...., Maggie is coming around the corner of the house.

Annibel quietly retreats to the bushes and decides to try camouflage. This might have worked if Annie was green in color. Maggie may be old but she's not blind. It's not too hard to tell what's under the Escallonia brush. Maggie whines and goes behind the bush. Annibel hisses and stands her ground. Maggie barks and goes along the house toward Annibel. The cat decides, at this point, that "flight" might be her best choice and she turns tail and runs.

Trees are a cat's best defense. This may not work if being persued by a mountain lion but it worked with old Maggie girl. She barked a few times and then went back to the front porch to lay in the sun. They say that mild exercise is good for you after an operation..., helps build the immunities and you heal faster. Maggie's immune system got a real boost this morning. She must be feeling better.

  3. Alright Maggs!! Let everyone know you are still the queen on duty, patrolling the yard any wayward kitties, including Annibell. And don't you forget it.

  5. My calico, Stella, has been confined indoors for the last two days, after catching a bird yesterday morning. She brought it in the house via the cat door to show us (it was still in very good health). We escorted the bird outside, and put it up in a tree to rest. Then, a few minutes later in she comes with another one (it wasn't the same bird--I checked!). So the cat door was locked for the rest of the day. Birds flew away. Today dawned another prime day for baby birdie catching, and she caught one more and brought it inside before lockdown once again!

    Score: Birds 3, Stella 0.
