It was, as I have said, a fine autumnal day; the sky was clear and serene, and nature wore that rich and golden livery which we always associate with the idea of abundance. The forests had put on their sober brown and yellow, while some trees of the tenderer kind had been nipped by the frosts into brilliant dyes of orange, purple, and scarlet.... As Ichabod jogged slowly on his way, his eye... ranged with delight over the treasures of jolly autumn. ~Washington Irving, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"

Morning Sanctuary

The weekend was busy. The days long and the mornings early. Monday was another early rise and a drive to Sacramento. So....., I stayed home. Sat on the porch with my dog, Maggie and talked about life....,
....picked some flowers and watched the early morning become brilliant sunshine.

This is where I find my heart and renew the frayed edges of my soul .

Beautiful pictures, beautiful post. I relaxed just reading it.
Tell me about your mini windmill in the one picture. My husband and I were talking about these the other day - is yours functional or is it rather a more decorative item?
